Motion graphics and video: explainers, presentations, advertising
Motion graphics and video are a direction of 3D and motion design at Best Boost Partners: explainer videos, product and service presentations, advertising clips, animated infographics and interface recordings with animation. The service suits companies that need to show in a short time how a product works. The studio’s own designer leads the project from the script and the storyboard to the final animation with titles and subtitles. You receive the video in MP4 or WebM in the agreed sizes, with subtitle versions in English, Russian or Ukrainian.
What do we do in a motion graphics project?
Script
The script states what the viewer must understand by the end of the video and breaks the message into scenes with on-screen text and voice-over text. The length of the video follows from the script and the platform.
Storyboard
Every scene is drawn as a frame with a note on the action, the text and the transition. The storyboard is approved before any animation is made.
Style frame and animatic
One finished still fixes the colours, the typography and the manner of illustration. The animatic sets the storyboard frames to time, so the rhythm is checked before the final animation.
Animation
Illustrations, text, diagrams and 3D elements are animated scene by scene. In animated infographics the figures and the charts come from your data, and we do not alter them.
Interface recordings
For software and online services we record the screen and add animation over the recording: zooms, highlighted buttons, the cursor path and captions. The recording uses demonstration data, so that no data of real users gets into the video.
Titles, subtitles and sound
Titles are set inside the video, and subtitles are prepared as separate files in English, Russian and Ukrainian. Music, voice-over and sound effects are added if they are part of the scope.
What do you get from work on a video?
- The final video in MP4 or WebM in the agreed sizes and aspect ratios.
- Subtitle files or versions of the video with titles in each language named in the brief.
- The approved script, storyboard and style frame.
- A GIF or an image sequence of selected scenes, if the brief names them.
- A note on the licences for fonts, music, voice-over and stock footage.
When are motion graphics and video needed?
- A product or a service takes several paragraphs to explain, and visitors leave before they finish reading.
- You are launching a product and need a presentation video for the site, a client meeting or an exhibition stand.
- An advertising campaign needs clips for video platforms and social networks.
- A report or a study holds figures that are easier to follow as animated infographics.
Frequently asked questions
How long should an explainer video be?
The length depends on the platform and on how much the viewer must understand. An advertising clip for a social network is short, while a product presentation on a site can run longer, because the visitor has chosen to watch it. The length is fixed in the brief and checked on the animatic, before the final animation.
Can one video be made in several languages?
Yes. Best Boost Partners works in English, Russian and Ukrainian, and titles, subtitles and voice-over text are prepared for each language. Translation makes lines longer or shorter, so the layout of the titles is planned for the longest version. A voice-over in each language is recorded and licensed separately.
Who writes the script for the video?
The script is part of the work on motion graphics and video. It is written from your brief, your materials about the product and a conversation with a person who knows the product. You approve the script before the storyboard is drawn, because a change to the script after animation has started means redoing finished work.
