Development and new sections for a site that is already working
Development and new sections is the part of full site management in which Best Boost Partners adds to a working site: new page types, sections, language versions, functions and integrations, and the redesign of weak pages. Each change is checked for its effect on search before release, so that existing pages keep their addresses, texts and links. The work suits sites that have outgrown their first structure. You receive the released changes, a description of each change and a record of the checks made before and after release.
What exactly do we build in development and new sections?
New sections and page types
A new section starts from demand. We collect the queries, look at what the search results show for them and decide which page types the section needs. Then come the template, the URL rule, the texts and the internal links from existing pages.
Language versions
For a new language or country we set the address structure, the hreflang tags and the rules for switching between versions. Keyword research is done again for each market, because queries are not translated word for word. Texts in English, Russian and Ukrainian are written by our authors.
Functions
Calculators, filters, site search, personal accounts, comparison tables and forms each get a short specification: the pages where the function appears, the data it uses and what the search robot will see. Content loaded by scripts is checked after rendering.
Integrations
We connect the site to the systems you use: a CRM, payment and delivery services, stock and price feeds, mailing tools, analytics. Each integration has a description of the data exchanged, the schedule of the exchange and the behaviour of the site when the other system does not answer.
Redesign of weak pages
We select pages that receive visitors but bring few enquiries, and pages that rank below their queries, by the data of Google Search Console and analytics. The layout is redrawn and the text is rewritten. The address stays the same, or a redirect is set if the address has to change.
Search check before release
Before release each change goes through a list: addresses and redirects, titles and headings, canonical tags, robots.txt and the sitemap, structured data, loading speed and internal links. The check is made on a staging copy of the site and repeated on the live site.
What do you get from development and new sections?
- The released changes on the site: the sections, page types, language versions, functions or integrations named in the plan.
- A short specification for each change: the purpose, the pages affected, the URL rule and the way to check the result.
- A record of the search check before and after release, with the list of pages whose addresses or titles changed.
- A redirect map for every change that moves or removes pages.
- Updated documentation: the site structure, the description of the integrations and the instructions for editors.
When are development and new sections needed?
- People search for things the site has no page for, and a new section or page type is needed.
- The site is entering a new country or language, and the market needs a version of its own.
- The business has changed its processes, and the site needs a new function or an integration with an internal system.
- Some pages receive visitors but bring few enquiries, or have ranked below their queries for a long time.
Frequently asked questions
Can new sections harm the positions the site already has?
New sections can harm existing positions when they repeat the queries of existing pages or change the internal links. We reduce this risk by giving each new page its own query cluster in the page map and by checking redirects, canonical addresses and links before and after release. Pages that already bring traffic are kept on a separate list, and their addresses and titles change only on purpose.
How do you decide what to develop first?
The order of development is set by data and by the estimate. For each possible change we write down the demand behind it, the current state of the pages in Google Search Console and analytics, and the amount of work. The changes are then placed in the plan for the period by priority, and you approve the order.
Is a full redesign needed, or can pages be changed one by one?
Pages can be changed one by one. We start with the page types that receive the most visits or rank below their queries, and leave the rest as they are. A full redesign is proposed only when the templates or the platform no longer allow the changes the site needs, and it is planned as a separate stage with a redirect map.
