Support and growth proposals for a site that has to keep working
Support and growth proposals is the part of full site management in which Best Boost Partners keeps a site in working order and regularly proposes what to do next. We monitor uptime, indexing and positions, install updates, make backups and fix what breaks. At a regular review the studio names new sections, markets or formats worth adding, explains the reason and gives an estimate for each proposal. You decide which proposals go into work. You receive monitoring reports, a log of incidents and a written list of proposals.
What exactly do we do in support and growth proposals?
Uptime monitoring
Automatic checks request the main page types of the site at short intervals and record the status code and the response time. When the site does not answer or a form stops sending, we receive a notice, and the incident is entered in the log.
Indexing and positions
We track the number of indexed pages, the crawl errors and the messages in Google Search Console, and the positions for the agreed query groups. A sharp change in any of these figures opens a task: find the cause, name it in the report and propose a fix.
Updates
Updates of the CMS, the plugins and the server software are installed on a staging copy first, checked, and then installed on the live site. Security updates go first. On sites with custom code we update the libraries that the code depends on.
Backups
The files and the database are copied on a schedule to storage that is separate from the hosting and belongs to you. We test the restoring of the site from a copy, because a backup that has never been restored cannot be relied on.
Fixing what breaks
Forms that stop sending, layout errors after an update, expired certificates, failed integrations and pages that begin to return errors are each entered in the log with the cause and the fix. A fault that keeps returning goes into the plan as a development task.
Regular review and proposals
At the review we go through the data for the period and write proposals: a new section, a new market, a new content format or a function. Each proposal has a reason based on data, an estimate of the work and a suggested place in the plan. You accept, postpone or reject each proposal.
What do you get from support and growth proposals?
- A monitoring report for the period: uptime, indexing, positions for the agreed query groups and organic traffic.
- An incident log: the date, what broke, the cause, the fix and the time during which the site or the function was unavailable.
- A record of installed updates and of backups, with the date of the last tested restore.
- A written list of growth proposals, each with a reason, an estimate and a suggested priority.
- An updated task register in which the accepted proposals have become tasks of the next plan.
When are support and growth proposals needed?
- The site has been launched, and someone has to answer for its uptime, updates and backups.
- Customers notice faults on the site before anyone in the company does.
- The CMS and the plugins have not been updated for a long time, and nobody knows when the last backup was made.
- The site works steadily, but nobody says what to add next and what the addition would cost.
Frequently asked questions
How quickly do you react when the site goes down?
The reaction time and the hours in which we respond are fixed in the contract after the brief, because they depend on the site and its load. Monitoring sends us a notice as soon as the site stops answering, without waiting for a message from you. After the fix you receive an entry in the incident log with the cause and the measures taken.
Do we have to accept the growth proposals?
No, the decision on every growth proposal is yours. A proposal can be accepted, postponed or rejected, and only accepted proposals enter the next plan with their estimates. Support of the site continues in the agreed scope whatever you decide.
What are the growth proposals based on?
Growth proposals are based on the data of the site and of the niche: queries for which the site has no page, sections that the sites in the search results have and your site lacks, pages with visitors but few enquiries, countries from which visitors already come. Each proposal names the source of its data, so you can check the reasoning.
