Drop domain search and analysis
Acquisition of hard-to-get domains
Acquisition of hard-to-get domains is the part of the service “Drop domain search and analysis” in which Best Boost Partners buys out domains that an ordinary client cannot buy on their own. We find the owner or the venue, value the domain against its history and links, negotiate within an agreed price ceiling and arrange the payment. The part is for companies that need one particular domain. You receive the domain in your registrar account, or the domain stays on our platform and you use it under the contract.
What exactly do we do to acquire a hard-to-get domain?
Why the domain is hard to get
We first establish what stands in the way of the purchase. The domain may belong to someone and not be offered for sale, be sold only at a closed or national auction, or sit in a zone that requires a local contact or company. The seller may also accept only certain payment methods or escrow.
Finding the owner or the venue
For a domain that carries a site or is parked, we look for the owner through the registration data, the site itself and its copies in the archive. For a domain sold at a closed or national auction, we establish the venue and its conditions of entry.
Valuation
Before the first offer we check the history of the domain in the Wayback Machine and its backlinks in link indexes such as Ahrefs and Majestic. The valuation states what the domain is worth for your task, and the price ceiling rests on it.
Negotiation within the ceiling
We agree a price ceiling with you and, within it, negotiate with the owner or bid at the venue. Every offer and every reply is reported to you. The ceiling is raised only by your decision.
Safe payment
Where possible, the payment goes through an escrow service, so that the seller receives the money only after the domain has been transferred. Where a seller or a venue accepts only certain payment methods, we make the payment by the method required.
Transfer or use on our platform
After the purchase there are two outcomes. We transfer the domain to your registrar account, or the domain stays on our platform and you use it. The terms of such use are fixed in the contract.
What do you get from the acquisition of a domain?
- A written explanation of why the domain is hard to get and which route to it is open.
- A valuation of the domain based on its history and backlinks, with the evidence attached.
- A price ceiling agreed with you before the first offer, and a record of the negotiation.
- The domain in your registrar account, or the right to use the domain on our platform under the contract.
- The documents of the deal: the confirmation of payment and the confirmation of the transfer.
When do you need the acquisition of a hard-to-get domain?
- The domain you need belongs to someone and is not offered for sale, and you do not know how to reach the owner.
- The domain is sold only at a closed or national auction that you cannot enter on your own.
- The zone requires a local contact or company, or the seller accepts a payment method you do not have.
- You need to use a domain without taking it into your own registrar account.
Frequently asked questions
What if the owner refuses to sell the domain?
Then the domain cannot be bought, and we tell you so directly. An owner may refuse or name a price above the agreed ceiling, and no negotiation can force a sale. In that case we report the owner’s last position, and you decide whether to raise the ceiling, to wait or to look for another domain.
Can the domain stay with you instead of being transferred to me?
Yes. After the purchase the domain can stay on our platform, and you use it there. The terms of use are fixed in the contract. The other outcome is the transfer of the domain to your own registrar account, and the choice between the two is yours.
Do you acquire domains that contain another company’s trademark?
We do not acquire domains that infringe someone else’s trademark for the purpose of misleading the customers of its owner. Before the valuation we check whether the name contains a trademark and what the domain is going to be used for. A request of this kind is declined at the brief stage.
