Drop domain search and analysis
Sourcing expired domains
Sourcing expired domains is the first stage of the service “Drop domain search and analysis” at Best Boost Partners. We collect candidates from lists of expiring and deleted domains, from auctions and from backorder services, then filter them by topic, language, country zone, age and link metrics. The stage is for teams that need domains for a PBN, a 301 redirect or a new project. You receive a shortlist with the reason each domain was included.
What exactly do we do at the sourcing stage?
Selection criteria
Before the search we agree the topic, the language, the country zone, the minimum age and the link metrics. The criteria are written down, so every later decision can be checked against them.
Lists of expiring and deleted domains
We go through lists of domains whose registration is about to expire and of domains that have already been deleted. A deleted domain is registered at the standard fee, which matters when many domains are needed.
Auctions and backorder services
Domains with a stronger link profile more often go to auction or are caught through a backorder. We watch the lots that match the criteria and record the current bid and the closing date for each.
Filtering by topic and language
A raw list is mostly noise. We remove domains whose former topic and language do not fit the task, since links from an unrelated past give little to a new site.
Filtering by zone, age and link metrics
The remaining domains are sorted by country zone, age and the number of referring domains in link indexes such as Ahrefs and Majestic. Metrics serve as a first filter, and no final verdict is based on them.
Shortlist with reasons
Each domain on the shortlist comes with a line explaining why the domain was selected: former topic, age, notable donors. The shortlist then moves to the stage “History and spam checks”.
What do you get after the sourcing stage?
- A written set of selection criteria agreed with you before the search.
- A shortlist of candidate domains with the reason each one was included.
- For every candidate: zone, age, former topic, language and basic link metrics in one table.
- For auction lots: the marketplace, the current bid and the closing date at the time of the check.
- A note on which candidates are free to register and which have to be bought or backordered.
When do you need a search for expired domains?
- You need several domains of one topic for a PBN and have no time to watch the drop lists yourself.
- You are looking for one strong domain of a related topic for a 301 redirect to your main project.
- You plan a new project and want to choose its domain among those that already have a history.
- Your own search returns only domains with inflated metrics and an empty or spammy past.
Frequently asked questions
Where do you look for expired domains?
We look in three places: lists of domains whose registration is about to expire, lists of domains already deleted, and auctions with backorder services. Each source gives a different kind of domain, so the lists are merged and filtered by the same criteria. The source of every candidate is recorded in the table.
What is the difference between an expiring and a deleted domain?
An expiring domain has not yet been released and is usually sold at an auction or caught through a backorder service. A deleted domain has already returned to free registration, and anyone can register it. Deleted domains more often have a gap between the old site and the new owner, and the history check has to examine that gap.
Can I set a price limit per domain?
Yes. The price limit per domain is one of the criteria fixed before the search. Auction lots above the limit stay out of the shortlist or are marked separately, so that the choice remains with you.
